Saturday – 11:00am  at Market House (123 N. Commerce Street)

History Hunt

Similar to the Trail Hike but focused on the Generals.  The History Hunt is an interactive scavenger hunt with the 9 Generals of Galena. Included in your packet will be a listing of questions and you will need to find the Generals to get the answers. Once you have completed the questions, you can turn in your completed form at the Trading Post (Turner Hall) to receive a limited edition History Hunt patch. The History Hunt is available on Saturday from 9:00am – 11:30am.

Pilgrimage Trail Hike

Also included in your packet will be a trail hike and map of downtown Galena. There is a listing of 16-18 questions. The answers are located at historically significant places around Galena. The hike is approximately 5 miles and takes 2-3 hours to complete. New Scouts will have the opportunity to complete many of the Tenderfoot, 2nd and 1st Class requirements.  Hikers who complete the trail will receive the special Pilgrimage Patch at the Trading Post (Turner Hall).

Civil War Encampment

Tri-state Historical Presentations will put on a Civil war encampment on the weekend of April 28th through April 30th. Scouts and Scouters can see the life during the Civil War and what a camp would look like. Also at 11:30am on April 28th there will be a mock Civil War battle held along the banks of the Galena River.

Bucket Brigade

Participants compete with others to put out “the fire” by moving water using buckets (with holes!) This is always a favorite activity of the youth who attend! (You will get wet, be prepared!) Schedule a time at Registration between 9:00am-11:00am.

Galena and U.S. Grant Museum

The admission fee is included with your wristband. Many pieces of national US history are on display. Click here for detailed information about exhibits.
